DAR to mark Constitution Week with series of events

The local chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution is marking Constitution Week Sept. 17 through Sept. 23 with several events.

Valley Grande Mayor Wayne Labbe signed a proclamation honoring the 236th anniversary of the drafting of the Constitution. Posters will be placed at the Selma Dallas County Library and the Wallace Community College Selma library. Downtown churches will play patriotic songs and hymns during the week.

Members of the William Rufus King Chapter of the DAR will also visit Cedar Hill Nursing Home to present a musical program led by Guy and Debbie Anderson, and Cynthia Hammerle, Constitution Week chairperson for the local DAR, will read the preamble of the Constitution.
