Jefferson County Tax Assessor Gaynell Hendricks will hold a press conference tomorrow at 10 a.m. to talk about the final step being implemented to provide online exemptions for residents of the county.

Recently the Jefferson County Commission approved an agreement with E-Ring Inc. to upgrade the system with new software.

“This effort to provide online exemptions began four years ago when I witnessed a father with four children, during a storm, rushing to the office to meet a deadline to claim his exemption,” Hendricks said in a press release. “I felt like we could do better as a department and have worked to get legislation passed to allow online exemptions.”

The system is expected to be up and running on Oct. 1. The press conference will be held at the Jefferson County Courthouse on 716 Richard Arrington Jr. Blvd, Office 170 in Birmingham.
