Perry County election

Perry County District 1 County Commission seat featured Donald Bennett challenging Albert Turner Jr.

Alabama Democratic Party has ordered a recount in the Perry County Commission District 1 primary election.

Perry County Commissioner Albert Turner Jr., who lost by one vote to challenger Donald Bennett, took the close result to the Democratic Party Executive Committee in Montgomery June 15 and argued the race was tied or should be overturned because of "irregularities" and the committee ruled for a recount, according to WSFA.

The committee also dismissed Turner's election contest.
