The Wilcox County Democratic Executive Committee has overturned the election for a County Commission seat after an investigation found evidence of vote buying.Â
Voters in Wilcox County hired attorney Bryan Taylor to question the result of the May 19 primary election between challenger Charilyn McConnico and incumbent Jeffery Saulsberry that put Saulsberry ahead by three votes, according to al.com.
Video evidence was produced with voters saying they were paid to vote for Saulsberry.
After a five-hour hearing on Tuesday, Wilcox County Democratic Executive Committee Chair Jo Celeste Pettway issued an order on Thursday that agreed with voters.
The order would give the seat to Charilyn McConnico.
Saulsberry’s attorney disputes the claims and says there is no evidence of vote buying.
