Selma City Schools Superintendent Dr. Zickeyous Byrd thanks Hyundai for their donations at a press conference at the Hyundai plant.
Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama gave back-to-school supplies and uniforms to Selma City Schools on Aug. 25.
During a news conference at the plant, the auto manufacturer presented the district with a busload of school supplies and uniforms valued at more than $5,000 to Selma scholars.
"We would like to thank HMMA's employees for their acts of kindness. The donations are part of HMMA’s school supply campaign," the district said on social media.
Hyundai gave a $5,000 check to Selma City Schools for the district's end of the year program that rewards students for improving test scores and is held for the students and their families.
Hyundai is also organizing a student STEM-based tour for schools in the region. SCS will be the first to take part in the field trip and tour experience.
