ARCHITECTURAL SERVICES FOR RENOVATION AND REHABILITATION OF FOSTER HALL Purpose of the Request

Selma University in Selma, Alabama is seeking Architectural services for the renovations and rehabilitation of historic Susie C. Foster Hall located on the campus of Selma University. Foster Hall is a three-story brick building approximately 114 years old. The project is funded by a grant from the National Park Service and University funds. All work on historic Foster Hall will be reviewed by the National Park Service as well as local government agencies.

The building is not currently occupied. The roof needs repairs, and the electrical and plumbing system needs upgrades, HVAC system needs to be installed, and there is evidence of termite damage. The goal of this project is a full restoration of the building that meets the Secretary of the Interiors standards for Historic Restoration and upgrades to all code requirements and HVAC and electrical systems.

Foster Hall is an extremely important site in the 20th-century African Civil Rights movement, and your firm's experience in restoring and renovating historic structures is a very important consideration.

PROPOSAL SELECTION PROCESS

Selma University will rank firms on the following criteria:

15% 1. Experience of design team working on historic renovations.

10% 2. Experience in working with local or National Historical Commission.

15% 3. Experience working on types of projects of this size and condition.

20% 4. Project approach and proposed methodologies.

20% 5. Timeline for completion date and deliverable submission.

10% 6. Identify the project team and list their qualifications.

10% 7. Firm references.

EMPLOYEES NOT TO BENEFIT
