Chicago Med brought back two familiar faces at the end of Season 10 with Sarah Reese (Rachel DiPillo) and Robin Charles (Mekia Cox), and there could be more coming.

When TV Insider spoke with showrunner Allen MacDonald about the Season 10 finale, we had to ask if he has any plans to bring back any more past doctors next year, and he revealed he does.

“And they just texted me,” he shared. “Because I am a TV fan — when I was a teenager and I watched the medical show St. Elsewhere, I used to just get so excited when they brought somebody back they hadn’t seen in a long time. And I think there’s a fear in storytelling, television specifically, that if you bring back old characters that you’re kind of going back into the past and not being in the present. But I think life is both.”

He continued, “I think we were successful in telling stories of the present, but I think that in the One Chicago world, it’s completely legitimate to check in on people, characters that we love and we miss, and what fun to see them interact with the new doctors that the audience knows, but they don’t. And so yes, I intend to at least bring back one if not two or more original cast members [from the series premiere] in the next season.”

Given that DiPillo just returned as Reese, that would leave: Nick Gehlfuss as Will Halstead, Yaya DaCosta as April Sexton, Torrey DeVitto as Natalie Manning, Colin Donnell as Connor Rhodes, and Brian Tee as Ethan Choi. (Still around from Season 1: Oliver Platt as Daniel Charles, S. Epatha Merkerson as Sharon Goodwin, and Marlyne Barrett as Maggie Lockwood.)

Gehlfuss exited at the end of Season 8, at which point Will reunited with Natalie, with DeVitto guest-starring in his final episode. Choi and DaCosta were last seen when Ethan and April (finally) got married that same season. Donnell hasn’t been seen on-screen since Connor’s last episode in Season 5, so it would be especially great to see him again.
