Three men have been sentenced for their roles in several unrelated murder cases that took place in Montgomery.Â
According to a statement from Montgomery County District Attorney Azzie Oliver the first was a murder that occurred in 2019 when an altercation broke out between Marcus Johnson and the victim, Paris Clarke, at a gas station on Ann Street.Â
Clarke was unarmed as Johnson reportedly stabbed him with a knife and cut the brachial artery in his arm. Despite efforts to save his life after he was transported for treatment he died of the injury.Â
Johnson was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.Â
The second was Brendan Thomas, who was convicted of the murder of Adrianna Conville in April. During the incident Thomas was accused of shooting her and paralyzing DeVris Bilbrew, who was 17 at the time.Â
Thomas was sentenced to two consecutive life sentences.Â
Lastly, Tory Johnson was sentenced for a shooting in 2022 on Bama Lanes that resulted in one being killed and six others wounded. Charged with reckless murder Johnson was sentenced to 32 years and six months.Â
The victim was identified as Jeffrey Reed. Oliver's statement cited witness accounts saying that an argument broke out between two groups of women before Johnson inserted himself into it and began firing into the crowd.Â
“The three cases highlighted here involved senseless acts of violence that resulted in the tragic and unnecessary loss of lives," Oliver stated. "While two offenders will spend the rest of their lives in prison and another has been sentenced to more than three decades behind bars, no sentence can truly heal the pain experienced by the families who have lost loved ones or the victims who continue to live with permanent injuries and lasting trauma."
