Police Lights

Four businesses in Greenville were raided by authorities for allegedly selling products that are illegal or age restricted.

According to WSFA three gas stations and a smoke shop were served warrants by the Greenville Police Department in collaboration with the Attorney General's Office and the DEA Task Force.

Authorities reportedly received information that products that were illegal or age restricted were being sold to minors, prompting an investigation. Undercover police were used to buy the products before the raid on Wednesday.

Police were searching for Kratom - also known as "gas station heroin" - and smokable hemp.

Greenville Police Chief Justin Lovvorn said that products seized during the raid will be tested, which could lead to criminal charges and the revocation of business licenses.

It was noted that noted that business owners may not always be aware that some products are illegal and Lovvorn advised calling a local police department to get an opinion.
