The Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs (ADECA) has granted nearly $790,000 in funding for advocacy groups serving victims of abuse.
“People who have been victimized through assault and violence need safe spaces where they can receive the support and services necessary for healing,” said Gov. Kay Ivey. “Each of these agencies provides or can refer victims to the resources where they can receive the help they need.”
Legal Services Alabama in Montgomery was granted $29,321 to provide assistance for people victimized by assault, bullying, domestic and family violence, as well as elder abuse and neglect.
SAN (also known as Turning Point) in Tuscaloosa was awarded $185,019 to support shelter and housing and other services for domestic violence victims in Bibb, Fayette, Greene, Hale, Lamar, Marengo, Pickens, Sumter and Tuscaloosa counties.
