Tornado rebuild

The EF2 tornado that tore through the middle of Selma on Jan. 12, 2023, was a significant event whose impact is still being felt in the area.

The Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs (ADECA) is inviting the public to submit their comments regarding the Community Development Block Grant-Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) program.

"This is your chance to have a say in how these vital funds are used to rebuild and improve our community," says the City of Selma on social media.

"Your feedback will directly impact the development and recovery projects in our city and ensure that the needs and priorities of our community are heard and addressed."

A sample comment can be seen on this graphic.

Anyone who wishes to provide insight on the program may do so by emailing Chloe Moyers at chloe.moyers@adeca.alabama.gov

For further questions, contact the City of Selma's Office of Planning & Development at 334-431-4185.
