Rep. Kelvin Lawrence from Hayneville has pleaded not guilty after being arrested for alleged forgery in the second degree on July 9.Â
According to 1819news.com, Lawrence pleaded not guilty to charges that are considered Class C felonies in a case being prosecuted by the Attorney General's special prosecutions division.Â
A trial date has not yet been set. Lawrence is accused of forging a builder's license. The allegations have resulted in charges of forgery and criminal possession of a forged instrument.Â
If convicted, Lawrence faces one year and one day to ten years in prison.
A Democrat, Lawrence represents District 69 in Alabama.Â
