The Alabama NAACP will host the 60th Annual Bridge Crossing Gala at the Embassy Suites Hotel on 300 Tallapoosa Street in Montgomery on Friday, March 7 at 7 p.m.
The theme of the 2025 event is From the Bridge to the Ballot. WSFA News Channel 12 reporter Monae Stevens will be the distinguished Emcee and Alabama AT&T Cleo Washington will be the distinguished guest speaker.
“We are excited about the youth’s participating in the events because one day we will pass the baton of justice to them with anticipation, that they will continue to get into good trouble,” said Benard Simelton, President of the Alabama NAACP.
At 11 a.m. there will be a panel discussion on multiple topics including Medicaid expansion at the Dexter Avenue King Memorial Baptist Church Legacy Center, located at 455 Washington Avenue in Montgomery.
On the following day the “Get Their S.W.A.G On” event addressing gun violence will take place at the Dallas County Courthouse located on 105 Lauderdale Street in Selma. S.W.A.G. reportedly stands for "We Are Stronger Without a Gun".
Tickets for the gala are $80 for individuals and $800 for a table. For more information, visit alnaacp.org/bridge-crossing-gala, call 256-444-1300 or email info@alnaacp.org.
