Perry County Courthouse

The Perry County Chapter of the Alabama New South Coalition will host a political forum for Marion election candidates at the Perry County Courthouse on July 24 at 6 p.m.

"This issues forum will address a broad range of topics, including water, infrastructure, recreation, and partnerships with other entities to drive progress," said Perry County Commissioner Albert Turner Jr. on social media.

Turner advised citizens to consider factors when speaking with candidates, especially their history of community involvement, familiarity with the financial situation and plans for maintenance.

"These factors are crucial in assessing a candidate's suitability for the city council," said Turner. "By law, the council must approve all city expenditures. Therefore, it is essential for citizens to understand the candidates' comprehension of their role in managing the city's finances."

The event will be moderated by Rev. Dr. Matthew Wilson.

The forum will be held at the upstairs courtroom of the building located at 300 Washington Street in Marion.
