Annual Unity Breakfast on MLK Day held virtually due to COVID

Attorney Vernetta Perkins moderated the 28th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Virtual Unity Breakfast on Facebook live on Monday.

The 28th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Virtual Unity Breakfast was not a packed event at Wallace Community College Selma, as it usually is on MLK’s birthday.

This year, due to the COVID pandemic, sponsor Selma Chapter of The Links Inc. held a panel discussion called “Unity Through the Pandemic – Selma’s Rise to Power” virtually through Facebook live to examine dreams and power and what it means to be Black in the 21st century.

Panelists were Sen. Malika Fortier; Black Voters Matter Cofounder Cliff Albright; civil rights attorney April Albright; Truth, Racial Healing and Transformation Codirector Lydia Chatmon; Total Management Experts CEO Jimmie Coleman III; and management consultant Krystal Allen. Attorney Vernetta Perkins moderated the discussion.
