In a review of the past year Rep. Terri Sewell (AL-07) mentioned the various projects and relief efforts that went into the Black Belt. 

An introduction in the reviews states that millions of dollars were funneled into infrastructure and capital projects in the seventh district, including $5.8 million for disaster relief in the Black Belt. 

More than $398 million in federal grants was awarded to the district, which includes Choctaw, Clarke, Dallas, Greene, Hale, Lowndes, Marengo, Perry, Pickens, Sumter and Wilcox counties. 

$5.8 million was secured for the Delta Regional Authority for disaster relief in Selma and York. 

Moundville was awarded $800,000 for economic development. 

The city of Marion received a $500,000 grant to renovate the National Guard Armory into a multi-purpose community center. 

$1 million was allocated to upgrade medical equipment at the Uniontown Health Center. Similarly, $1 million was granted to Aliceville for a new police and fire station. 

Sumter County received $750,000 for a new community center.
