Southside High School in Dallas County, Charles Henderson Middle School in Pike County and Nixon Elementary in Montgomery County are among 25 schools to be recognized for showing the most improvement as reflected in the recent state report cards. 

According to AL.com, the top 25 schools will receive $2,000 each from the Alabama Department of Education (ADE) while the other 25 that are in the category of most improved will receive $8,000 each. 

Two Black Belt schools made it to the top 25 list. These were Forest Avenue Elementary and Loveless Academic Magnet Program High School in Montgomery County.

The schools will be formally recognized during a meeting of the ADE on Feb. 8 in Montgomery.
