The Selma Chapter of The Links, Incorporated will hold its “Lifelong Wellness: A Family Affair” on March 15 as part of the series of Black Family Wellness Expos nationwide.
The expo seeks to promote health among black families and address economic disparities, said an press release from The Links.
Health issues to be covered this year include: pre-natal and newborn ; maternal health; breast and prostate cancer awareness; kidney disease; heart health; blood donations; organ/tissue donor awareness/signup; dental health; mental health awareness and resources; suicide signs and prevention; anti-bullying; aging; dementia; caregiver resources, tax preparation, voter registration and information, and more.
There will be mini-workshops, giveaways of fresh fruits and vegetables, and monetary prizes. The American Red Cross will also be on site to host a blood drive and offer $35 to each donor.
“We are extremely excited about the opportunity we have to serve our community again through the Wellness Expo,” said Selma Links President, Dr. Patricia Robinson. “This will be our 3rd year, and each year we impact more lives. Our goal is to expose the community to various wellness resources and provide an intergenerational experience so all people can be healthy. We are appreciative of each participant, presenter, and vendor that makes this collaboration a success.”
