West Alabama Highway

West Alabama Highway

A public information meeting on the West Alabama Highway will be hosted by its general contractor Brasfield & Gorrie and the Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) on Thursday, Feb. 13, at the Thomasville Civic Center.

“This project is a game-changer for West Alabama,” said Kevin White, a regional vice president for Brasfield & Gorrie. “We’re excited to share information about it.”

The project is set to add lanes to U.S. Highway 43 and State Route 69 in order to provide a four-lane divided highway from Thomasville to Moundville.

It will reportedly complete a four-lane highway corridor of an estimated 200 miles to connect Mobile and Tuscaloosa. 700 workers are expected to be part of the construction.

It is hoped that the highway will "ease travel, improve safety and help increase economic opportunities for the region."

The meeting will be held from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Thomasville Civic Center Gallery at 559 West Front Street North in Thomasville.
