The Bullock County Branch of the NAACP has partnered with the Bullock County School district for Stronger Without A Gun or S.W.A.G. to encourage youths to avoid guns.

“I believe all of our children have a bright future and I want them to know there are better avenues and options to choose other than guns," said Dr. James V. Poe, Jr., president of the Bullock County NAACP. "Guns won’t solve our problems, staying in school and focusing on education, solves problems."

Gun violence prevention assemblies are planned for May 6 at South Highlands Middle School on 700 Bernard Street in Union Springs at 9 a.m.

On that same day there will be an assembly at Bullock County High School on 911 Sardis Road in Union Springs at 1:15 p.m.
