The Coalition of Concerned Families (CCF) will host a Q&A forum for candidates running for local elections tonight at Queen City Kale beginning at 5:30 p.m.
CCF Vice President Jasmine Pritchett will moderate the forum. According to CCF President Angela Benjamin the organization has been active in the area since 1998.
“The community knows us best through our political forums, but we also stand in the gap in many ways, most popular on the other side of our spectrum is brokering for citizens during disasters, including making sure they are housed, clothed, fed and covering tiny details as small as providing a doll or coloring book to a child that is shaken by the event," she said in a press release.
"All of this is in partnership with public and private entities. Our last disaster was so severe that we were able to bring on new partners like doctors and nurses, teachers, Rural Health Medical Program and ATAP, LLC.”
Candidates are running for the following positions: coroner, state representative, state senate, sheriff, district attorney and the local candidate for Governor. Judge Vernetta Perkins will be in attendance.
CCF has stated that the forum will not be a debate but a forum where audience participation is encouraged. Candidates will be given two minutes to introduce themselves and outline their platforms.
CCF will ask two questions, the first being "What is the most pressing issue in Dallas County, in your opinion, and how will you address this issue?" and the second: "Tell us what to look for at the end of your term. What can we expect to measure from your leadership?"
Other questions will come from the audience after being scanned.
"The purpose of scanning is to ensure rules are followed before the question is offered to candidates," said the press release. "A citizen may personally ask the *written* question or send it to the moderator."
