The Canebrake Players in Demopolis is holding auditions for an upcoming production of "The Color Purple: The Musical".

Leading the production are director Susanna Smith, music director Margie Jackson, assistant director Kirk Brooker, and stage manager Allison Ward.

Male and female performers of ages 10 through adult are invited to audition.

Performers are asked to prepare a song approximately 60 seconds in length in the style of the play.

"Whether you're a seasoned performer or stepping onto the stage for the first time, everyone is encouraged to audition," said Smith. "If you know someone who would be incredible in this production, encourage them to come out."

The play features a book by Marsha Norman and music and lyrics by Brenda Russell, Allee Willis, and Stephen Bray.

Auditions will be held Aug. 16-17 at 6 p.m. each evening at The Old School on Main Avenue.

Performances are scheduled for Nov. 13-16.
