Helena Duncan, who is the president and CEO of the Business Council of Alabama in Montgomery, is one of several others to be appointed to Alabama Growth Alliance, said an announcement from Gov. Kay Ivey on Wednesday.
The announcement describes Alabama Growth Alliance as an initiative to support economic progress through Ivey's "new economic development strategy".
The Alabama Growth Alliance was established under the Working for Alabama legislative package. The initiative reportedly unites public and private leadership to stimulate the state's economy.
“The experienced business leaders on the Alabama Growth Alliance will be able to lend key support to the forward-looking strategies outlined in the new economic development plan. By working together, we’re building a stronger, more prosperous Alabama for generations to come,” said Ivey.
The Alabama Growth Alliance is set to begin on Oct. 1.
“The business leaders appointed to this public-private partnership will assist us as we move to capitalize on high-impact growth opportunities that will make a difference in the lives of Alabamians,” said Secretary of the Alabama Department of Commerce Ellen McNair.
