A chemical plant located in Burkville in Lowndes County is part of a $450 million acquisition deal by Mutares SE & Co., a company based in Germany.Â
According to AL.com the plant was acquired from SABIC of Saudi Arabia, an engineering thermoplastics company. Â
The site spans 6,300 acres and produces materials with polycarbonate resin, including compounded polycarbonate and pellets with polycarbonate, as well as acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene.
The materials are generally used in the automotive, construction and healthcare industries.
