Child abuse victim advocacy groups serving Butler and Macon counties were part of a $2.2 million round of grants from the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs (ADECA).

“Children deserve to be raised in safe and protective environments, free from the fear of abuse and torment,” said Gov. Kay Ivey in an announcement. “I commend these agencies for being there for these children and helping them overcome terrible ordeals.”

Twin Cedars Youth and Family Services based in LaGrange, Ga. received $194,693 for services in Lee County, in addition to Macon.

Butler County Children’s Advocacy Center in Greenville received $13,712.

“ADECA joins Gov. Ivey in support of these agencies that help children recover from the horrors of abuse,” ADECA Director Kenneth Boswell said.
