The City of Montgomery released an update on Friday stating that the Wares Ferry Road Bridge Replacement project is moving forward.Â
The bridge closed on Dec. 18 in 2025 because of damage sustained from overweight vehicles.Â
The latest update said that the contractor is mobilizing on the site and that a new precast culvert is expected "soon".Â
Planning is reportedly completed and a construction contract has been awarded along with coordinated environmental and utility approvals. Work is expected to begin in the coming weeks.Â
"The project remains ahead of schedule, and the City anticipates reopening the bridge at the beginning of summer," said the announcement.Â
