The City of Montgomery will hold a virtual meeting tonight at 5 p.m. on its Climate Action Plan or CAP where input will be sought on green policies for the community.
“Your voice is essential to this process,” said an announcement from city officials. “We are committed to designing climate actions that reflect the needs and values of Montgomery’s communities—especially those most vulnerable to climate impacts.”
City officials will present findings on pollution and strategies on energy, buildings, transportation, land use, waste, and agriculture.
The CAP proposes plans to reduce expensive energy bills, higher insurance premiums, increased food prices affected by agricultural and fishery damage and costs of home repairs due to weather events.
"A well-crafted Climate Action Plan can help minimize these burdens by guiding investments, programs, and policies that both cut emissions and improve residents' quality of life," said the announcement.
