The first Arise Services Male to Man Mentoring Classic Car Cruise-in and Trunk or Treat washeld Saturday with20 cars and dozens ofparticipants.Â
Carsgatheredunder the sign at Dave’s Market on Highway 22 in Valley Grandefrom as far away as Prattville.Â
Even though this was a Cruise-in, so there were no winners and no trophies, the folks who brought their cars out said they enjoyed getting together with other car people, meeting new carpeopleand talking cars.Â
The cars that attended ranged from early 60s customs, resto-customs,worksin progress, daily drivers all the way to new Corvettes. Some sporting shiny paint jobs some sporting patina. Â
Arise Services founder Cedric Wherry and Board President Corey Bowie thanked everyone whomade a donationto theArise Services’ Male to Men Mentoring programthatguidesyoung boys down the right path before they stray.The leadershope to do it again in the spring.Â
The Male to Men Mentoring program matchesvetted adult males with a child in the first or second grade who does not have a good male role model in their lives.Currently the Male to Man mentoring program is in Brantley Elementaryin Selmaand moving to include more schools. Wherry also said a similar program for girls is in the works.Â
Arise also offers other services,including parenting services and training, intervention programs,tutoringand other programs to help families.Â
