A community farming and gardening workshop will be held at James Childs Farm in Boligee on Sept. 14 at 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. 

Participants will learn how to grow their own food and start community gardens. Pre-registration is required to attend. Free lunch will be provided. 

James Childs, founder and CEO of James Childs Farms, will be the special guest. 

Topics will be the following: 

  • Managing Your Small-Scale Farm/Community Garden
  • Nutritional Benefits of Fresh Fruits & Vegetable
  • Resources Available for Small Farms and Community Gardens
  • Use of Farm Tools & Techniques for Community Garden & Small Farms Utilizing Drones to Manage Farm Operation
  • Risk Management Strategies
