A man who was already serving a sentence for a murder in Elmore County has been sentenced for the 2014 manslaughter of a Montgomery mother of two during an attempted robbery, said District Attorney Daryl Bailey.Â
Bailey made an announcement on his Facebook page where he said that the man, identified as Jhavarske Jackson, was sentenced to 46 years for the crime.
The victim was Shenita James. On Christmas Eve in 2014 she was leaving her house in car with her teenaged children when Jackson reportedly appeared with a gun.Â
Jackson was said to have tried to steal the car. He fired more than once into the car, killing James. He is also said to have been involved in a crime spree in 2015 that resulted in a murder.Â
“I hope Ms. James’ family, Jhavarske Jackson’s numerous victims, and our citizens will find it reassuring that this violent criminal will most likely spend the rest of his life behind bars and never have an opportunity to terrorize our community again," said Bailey. Â
