Crenshaw County Sheriff’s Office receives Liberty Tree

The Crenshaw County Sheriff's Office received a Liberty Tree as part of America's semiquincentennial or 250th anniversary celebration. 

"The Liberty Tree is a historic symbol of American independence, unity, resistance, and freedom. In 1775, patriots gathered beneath the original Liberty Tree to stand for the principles that helped shape our nation," said an announcement from the sheriff's office. 

"Today, planting disease-resistant Liberty Elm trees across Alabama continues that legacy — reminding us of the courage, sacrifice, and commitment that built this country."

The announcement stated that the tree will be a source of education for the community, especially for youths. 

"We are grateful to be part of this meaningful initiative and look forward to watching this tree — and the legacy it represents — grow for generations to come," the announcement continues.
