The Dallas County 10U All-Star team has made it to the state championship in Troy in July.
After sweeping victories in regional plays, the all-star team will play for the state title at the Troy Sportsplex July 8-12.
After the first two weekends of play, Dallas County stands at 4-0 with an average margin of victory of almost 19 runs per game.
Opening All-Star play on June 11 in Valley Grande with a three-game series against the Valley Grande 10U team, Dallas County swept the series 17-0, 21-1, and 22-0.
Last weekend, Dallas County traveled to the Capitol city to battle the East Montgomery All-Stars.
Prior to the game, the ‘Mercy Rule’ was put in place which prohibits a team from scoring more than 7 runs in an inning. That rule was the only thing that went East Montgomery’s way. Playing as the ‘visiting’ team, East Montgomery went scoreless in the top of the first inning whereas Dallas County continued their onslaught of big hits and aggressive baserunning. The first inning was stopped due to Dallas County scoring the maximum 7 runs, and still had runners on the bases.
In the second inning, East Montgomery rotated multiple pitchers hoping to find a spark to slow down the hot Dallas County hitters, however no spark was to be found and the inning ended again with Dallas County scoring 7 runs. With a commanding lead and the game well in hand, Dallas County was able to work multiple pitchers in 3 innings in preparation for the state tournament next month. After holding East Montgomery scoreless after the top of the third inning, the game was called.
Coached by a trio of former Selma Dixie Youth All-Stars, Cajun Prittchett (Head), Andre Lamar and John Brandon Solomon, the team is built around a deep stable of pitchers and speed on the basepaths.
Roster includes Jase Wilkinson, Holden Osborn, Pope Roberts, Tucker Roberts, Cajun Prittchett Jr., Lance Ward, Kendall ‘KJ’ Miller, Aiden Wright, Jacob Solomon, Malachi Hosea, Noah South and Ethan ‘EJ’ Jackson.
