Dallas County hires new superintendent

Anthony Sampson of Baldwin County is the new superintendent for Dallas County Schools.

An administrator with almost 24 years with the Baldwin County Public Schools has been hired as the new superintendent of Dallas County Schools.

Anthony Sampson, director of prevention and support at Baldwin County Schools based in Bay Minette, will replace Superintendent Dr. Hattie Shelton, who is retiring.

According to his LinkedIn profile, Sampson has been the director of prevention and support services for Baldwin County schools since 1998. He was the system’s director of safety, security and attendance since 2013.

He describes himself on LinkedIn as an “experienced Director of Prevention & Support Services with a demonstrated history of working in the education management industry. Skilled in Career Development, Event Planning, Customer Service, Coaching, and Deferred Compensation. Strong military and protective services professional with a Master of Arts focus on education from Xavier University of Louisiana.

Baldwin County School has 44 schools serving 31,000 students, according to the system’s website. Baldwin County is one of the largest counties in land area east of the Mississippi River, home to more than 220,000 residents, and is the fastest growing county in Alabama and one of the fastest growing counties in the nation.
