Dallas County Public Schools and Selma City Schools will hold Families First Community Resource Fair on Friday, Aug. 2 at Selma High School from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

“We are excited about this partnership and look forward to helping support our families throughout the upcoming school year,” said Dallas County Public Schools Superintendent Anthony Sampson.

Families are invited to hear from nonprofit organizations, state agencies, and employers who will share resources with a focus on health and wellness, academic success, financial literacy, violence prevention, mentorship, cultural enrichment, and career development.

“Growing up in Selma allowed me to have access to amazing mentors and supporters who helped groom me into the woman I am today; this event will hopefully allow us to improve upon our community’s ability to provide those same meaningful connections and help us to transform the lives of our youth in some really profound ways,” said District Judge Vernetta Perkins-Walker.

Resources will be shared from the Alabama Army National Guard, Black Belt Community Foundation Head Start, Family Guidance Center of Alabama, City of Selma, Helping Families Initiative, the Bridge Program, Vaughan Regional Medical Center and others.

Selma City Schools Superintendent Zickeyous Byrd said, “Selma City Schools is committed to working with our parents and the community of Selma. This event is another great opportunity to collaborate and support our community with outstanding resources."

Selma High School is located at 2180 Broad Street.
