Morgan Academy and the Clarke Prep Gators battled in a competitive homecoming matchup, with Morgan pulling ahead to secure a 32–20 victory.
Morgan opened their Homecoming game with the kickoff, as No. 1 Sean Pope sent the ball to the Clarke Prep Gators. The Senators struck first when No. 9 Ryder Hughey ran in for a touchdown. Morgan’s two-point conversion attempt was unsuccessful.
Clarke Prep answered with its first touchdown of the game in the opening quarter and successfully converted the extra point, making the game 7–6.
In the second quarter, No. 8 Desmond Reese made a big play on a catch in the end zone for Clarke Prep. Morgan responded late in the half when Sean Pope scored his second touchdown, but the Senators were unable to convert the two-point attempt.
Morgan entered halftime leading 12–7.Â
Morgan came out of halftime with momentum, scoring a touchdown to open the second half and successfully completing the two-point conversion.
Clarke Prep responded after recovering a Morgan fumble and finding the end zone. The Gators’ two-point attempt was unsuccessful.
Morgan answered with another touchdown, as Sean Pope found the end zone again. The two-point conversion failed, but Morgan continued to hold the lead.
Clarke Prep added another touchdown, bringing the score to 26–20 with Morgan still ahead.
Morgan then extended its advantage when a pass was completed to No. 10 Lane Osborn in the end zone. The touchdown made the score 32–20. The two-point conversion attempt was unsuccessful.Â
Late in the game, Clarke Prep fumbled near the end zone, and Morgan recovered the ball. With the clock winding down, Morgan’s No. 1, Sean Pope, intercepted a pass in the final minute to help seal the victory.
Final Score: Morgan 32, Clarke Prep 20.
During halftime, Morgan celebrated Homecoming by recognizing their Homecoming Court.Â
