Southside Panthers team

The Southside High School Panthers traveled to Valley on Saturday afternoon to face the Beulah High School Bobcats in the sub-regional playoff game to determine if they will advance to the Class 3A Regionals.

The Panthers understood the assignment and took care of business. They came out with the energy they needed to secure the 54-36 victory over the Bobcats.

M. Reese led the Panthers in scoring with 11 points. A. Smith and D. Surles both finished with 10 points a piece. Foreman led the Bobcats in scoring with 16 points.

The Panthers head coach Jeffrey Anderson stated, “I thought my guys came out and set the tone early. We played pretty sound defense and never really let them get any momentum. We need to keep getting better and continue to play together. If we do that I think we have a chance to keep advancing.”

The Panthers will face Trinity Presbyterian on Friday night at the Bill Harris arena in Birmingham for the first round of regional playoffs.
