Two Rivers Lumber Co. is set to build a $115 million sawmill in Coosa County, said an announcement from Gov. Kay Ivey on April 11.

“Alabama’s forest products industry is a national powerhouse, and it’s great to see Two Rivers Lumber continue to grow in its home state,” she added.

The new location will specialize in producing Southern Yellow Pine dimensional lumber and is expected to create 130 new jobs over a period of one year. The average annual salary is anticipated to be just over $51,000.

The current facility in Demopolis has 200 million board feet and 145 full-time employees. It was established by the McElroy family, owners of McElroy Truck Lines and by Roy Geiger, owner of Sumter Timber.

Lake Martin Area Industrial Development Authority is donating 110 acres of land, valued at $2.2 million, in support of the project, with AIDT to provide workforce development services.

“This investment from Two Rivers Lumber will generate a significant number of well-paying jobs while also driving economic growth in the Coosa County area,” said Ellen McNair, Secretary of the Alabama Department of Commerce.

The facility is expected to be open by August 2025.
