Elmore man sentenced to eight years on gun, drug charges

A man from Elmore County has been sentenced to eight years in prison following a conviction on drug and gun charges, with three years of supervised release when the term is up. 

A statement from U.S. Attorney Kevin Davidson said that Elmore County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a domestic disturbance call in the town of Elmore on June 13, 2024, between a woman and a man identified as Desmond Chrishawn Howard, 31. 

While driving to the residence deputies received a call from the woman saying that Howard was following her as she left in a car. The deputies then tracked down Howard's car and a pursuit began when they attempted to stop him. 

Howard was reportedly seen throwing two objects out of the car window before he drove back to the residence where he was eventually taken into custody. 

Investigators returned to where the objects were thrown and found a handgun and a glove containing what was later revealed to be dimethylpentylone or "molly" by lab analysis. 

It was later found that Howard had been convicted for a previous felony and was forbidden from being in possession of a gun or ammunition. He pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled substance with the intent to distribute and possessing a firearm after being convicted of a felony offense on Nov. 20, 2024.
