The Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA) has compiled a list citing studies of the most dangerous in Alabama. 

Unfortunately Selma was among them. 

Selma ranks seven in a list of 10, the first being Anniston. ESTA's article says that the city has experienced a slight decrease at 5% compared to the past but that their violent crimes per 1,000 residents of 13.7 and property crimes of 105.05.

"This city in the Black Belt region of south-central Alabama is one that has struggled with gang violence, crime, and drug dealing," said the article. "There were lots of open gang warfare between different gangs, arising in shootings back in the early 2000s."
