The Federal Aviation Administration recently announced that it will give $495 million for airport infrastructure throughout Alabama, one of which is Craig Field in Selma.
The grant is part of an allotment of $3.18 billion in the Airport Improvement Program. Craig Field is one of 19 airports to be given funding by the program.
The grant will be used to rehabilitate Craig Field’s runway.
“This significant investment in airport improvements in Alabama will fund construction and rehabilitation projects that will help maintain high levels of safety in U.S. aviation,” commented U.S. Department of Transportation Secretary Elaine L. Chao in the announcement.
Other airports in Alabama to receive funding are:
South Alabama Regional at Bill Benton Field in Andalusia
Auburn University Regional Airport in Auburn
Dothan Regional Airport in Dothan
Foley Municipal Airport in Foley
Greensboro Municipal Airport in Greensboro
Guntersville Municipal – Joe Starnes Field in Guntersville
