A statewide fire alert and burn restrictions are still in effect and the Alabama Forestry Commission (AFC) will stop issuing burn permits as dry conditions pose a risk.Â
According to media reports multiple wildfires have occurred in Alabama, though most have been contained.Â
Burning in an open space is a Class B misdemeanor, reports Alabama Dailey News. The most severely dry areas are in south Alabama but all counties are at risk as long as drought conditions continue.Â
AlabamaWx Weather Blog reports that some rain will enter the state in the coming days but not enough to alleviate conditions. The public is advised to keep up to date with weather reports as they are made.Â
