The first F.A.M. and Friends Day Blood Drive will be held at the courtyard of Selma High School this Saturday, July 15 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The F.A.M. Bridgebuilder Foundation is holding the event in partnership with Omega Chi Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc.
F.A.M. stands for Francis “Frank” A. McDaniel. He was a graduate of Selma High School in 2006 and was an educator and community advocate.
"Our mission lies in providing college scholarships to high school and college students from Selma, as well as educating and empowering residents of Selma through community service. With delays due to [COVID}, we are excited to host the very first F.A.M. Day this year[.]," said a press release from the foundation.
In addition to the blood drive there will be health screenings, check-ups, resources for social services and community service providers, as well as food and activities.
Health and social services resources will be present. Other organizations fitting the criteria for health and social services can register for the event for free by emailing the foundation at fambridgebuilderfoundation@gmail.com.
