A flood watch is in effect for a large portion of the Black Belt through Friday morning as winds and rains from Hurricane Francine makes its way through the Southeast.Â
The Dallas County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) warns that excessive runoff from rains could result in the flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other locations that are low-lying or prone to floods. Flooding may occur in urban areas or areas with poor drainage.
Two to four inches of rain is possible throughout areas under the watch. Locally higher amounts may be as high as six to nine inches and could lead to flooding.
Wind gusts also continue to be a concern and brief tornados are still possible.Â
The public is advised to stay up to date with weather reports and take precautions as needed.Â
