The Freedom Quilting Bee Legacy Museum partnered with Flawless Delivery Alabama to host training in hospitality and workforce this month.

The training session held at Gee’s Bend’s Welcome Center was the first for the Flawless Delivery professional training program to be offered in the Gee’s Bend community.

Gee’s Bend is known worldwide for its generations of quilting that is shared through tourism events and through its Freedom Quilting Bee Legacy museum. The training will help the community continue its mission to support economic development alongside cultural preservation.

“One of our values is to ‘Make it Better,’ and this training enables us to invest in our people,” said KeyaNkonoki, Director of Marketing and Tourism of Freedom Quilting Bee Legacy. “By partnering with Flawless Delivery Alabama, we are ensuring that residents have access to high-quality professional development without having to leave the community.”

The Flawless Delivery training focuses on leadership, communication, professionalism and service excellence, skills that support employment opportunities across hospitality, tourism and customer-facing industries. Offering the training locally helps address the access challenges often faced by rural communities.

Flawless Delivery Alabama’s class at Gee’s Bend demonstrates how partnerships can uplift small communities in meaningful ways, Nkonoki said.

The training also builds on the long tradition of self-sufficiency and entrepreneurship of the communities on County Road 29 in the Wilcox County communities of Alberta and Gee’s Bend. This program equips participants with practical tools to strengthen career pathways and local economic opportunities.

“We are preparing the communities of Gee’s Bend and Alberta for the future and the opportunities andatmosphere that local nonprofits - the Legacy and Sew Gee’s Bend Heritage Builders - are developing in ecotourism and welcoming the thousands of visitors each year,” said Kim V. Kelly, Executive Director of Freedom Quilting Bee Legacy.
