Gee's Bend Quilts

Global sportswear brand adidis is presenting sponsor of the 2025 Airing of the Quilts Festival, which is set for Oct. 4 in Gee's Bend.

Gee's Bend quilter Mary Lee Bendolph was included in a "50 over 50" list highlighting successful women entrepreneurs by Forbes.

Bendolph is the daughter of a founding member of the Freedom Quilting Bee in Boykin honoring the legacy of quilters in the Civil Rights Movement. According to the story she marched with Martin Luther King Jr. to demand equal voting rights.

Years later the quilters of Gee's Bend have gained recognition, leading to collaborations with Target and Chloe to produce items inspired by their designs.

Bendolph was 89 on the list. Read the full story here.
