A grand jury will hear the case of the former Selma High School football standout accused in killing a Selma police officer in July.
In a preliminary court hearing Friday, Circuit Judge Collins Pettaway Jr. ruled there is enough evidence through probable cause to charge Javonte Stubbs, 18, with capital murder for the shooting death of Selma police officer Marquis Moorer on July 27 while on his lunch break.Â
Stubbs is also charged with attempted murder of Moorer’s girlfriend Shakiaria Barley, who was injured in the shooting, according to court records.
More information has been released about the shooting. According to media reports, Moorer was shot in the chest, his bulletproof vest and gun belt lying on a dresser.Â
