Earthquake drill

The Great ShakeOut Earthquake Drill to encourage earthquake preparedness and safety is this Thursday, Oct. 19 at 10:19 a.m. 

The event is open to anyone who registers at www.shakeout.org/centralus/register. Organizers advises participants in homes, schools, offices and elsewhere to practice safety techniques. 

In the event of an earthquake common techniques involve dropping first and crawling to the nearest shelter, covering the body and holding on until the shaking subsides.
