The Highway 14 improvement project is underway.

The Alabama Department of Transportation resurfacing project will convert the access to Highway 14 from Highway 5 from a four-lane road to a three-lane road with the addition of center left turn lanes and bike lanes. Also included is resurfacing around the Perry County Courthouse and ADA compliance improvements. The project should be completed in six to eight weeks.

The project is funded by a grant submitted by the City of Marion, with the support of Main Street Marion and Marion Military Institute. Organizations and individuals who helped make this grant possible are Marion Mayor Dexter Hinton, Marion Military Institute President Col. David Mollahan, Engineer Rod Hawkins, Main Street Marion President Donald Bennett and ALDOT Transportation Director John Cooper and his team.

Machines have been stripping the old asphalt in preparation for resurfacing. People driving through Marion should drive with extreme caution, especially while workers are present.
