A homicide in Troy on Saturday has prompted an investigation from the police department.Â
A post on social media by the Troy Police Department said that the incident took place at around 10:30 p.m. on Saturday when officers responded to the 100 block of Dunn Circle on reports of "a large crowd and loud noise."Â
Gunshots were heard before officers found a male victim suffering from multiple wounds. Though police and medics attempted to save him the victim later died.Â
"A large crowd was present at the time of the incident," said the post. "We are urging anyone who witnessed the shooting or has information that may help the investigation to come forward."
WAKA reports that the victim was identified as Nyreesh Amari Smith, 20.
