The city of Selma could be the next municipality to realize the benefits of a good boat launch. There has been a lot of talk in recent years about the need to dredge and improve the Selma City Landing. The previous city council set aside $7,200 to have the marina dredged. On the day of the ribbon cutting at Roland Cooper State Park, Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources Commissioner Chris Blankenship said he was working with the City of Selma to get the same Boating Infrastructure Grant through ADEM for the Selma Marina that build the T pier at Roland Cooper. The city has not responded to inquiries from the Selma Sun concerning the status of the project.
